Porsche 911 carrera 4s vs mercedes s coupe

Hello,

I have a 2014 Mercedes S500 coupe 4matic and thinking to change to the new 2019 porsche 911 carrera 4s - 992. Do you think that I would miss the quietness and smoothness, comfort of the s coupe too much?

I don't know about you but I would miss the comfort, convenience and luxury. Especially on long drives.
They are two different animals. I once owned a Porsche and after having owned my S 560 coupe I would NOT go back.
Only my opinion and you know the saying about opinions: everyone has one!!!

Porsche guy who drives SL63 w/ perf pkg AND perf suspension
its like going from a sofa to a bleacher. I love porsches, but I got rid of them and drive a coupe. Its ok if you are using it as a part time sports car, not a touring car like these coupes are.

S550 coupe
I moved from a Boxster S to a S550 coupe. Completely different cars obviously, but have also driven several 911’s (but not the 992) and they are much closer in character to the Boxster than the Merc. I miss the Porsche sometimes, but would find it difficult to go back, as i love comfort and torque of the Merc. The big difference is when driving quickly, you feel part of the Porsche and completely at one with the road but in the Merc, you sometimes feel like you are just along for the ride, less engaged. Weight is a big factor. The problem is, its so difficult to fully enjoy the Porsche handling unless you live somewhere where there are miles of open and twisty roads and no cops or you want to do track days now and again. You choice should depend on how you want to feel on a drive. If I could afford it and had the garage space i would have both, but very happy with my S550 coupe.

Maybe a Porsche Panamera 4S instead. The zero to sixty and quater mile are very similarhttps://www.0-60specs.com/porsche/#porschepanamera

More noise from the Porsche than the S550 Coupe. Mostly tire road noise and if you stay away, far away from those 20" plus tires that will be reduced. Or buy Bose Quiet Comfort headset for road noise reduction.

Just did 900 miles in the Panamera 4S yesterday and it does just fine on interstate 35 and 37. Nail it a couple of times and you'll feel a bit of joy. The S550 Coupe is for long road trips up north or out to CA and is indeed like sitting in your mothers lap driving across country and back.

Two differnt types of driving b/t the two cars.

I have owned 45 Porsche's (have two right now), and I am looking for a used 550 coupe right now (MB # 62), not as a replacement but an addition. They are two very different cars (that have very different purposes), I would say if you like the way the S rides stick with it. 911's are wonderful cars in the right hands, but as a cruiser, the S class is hard to beat. It depends on how you use the car, what type of driver you are, and what purpose you have for the car.
