Question Trunk question

Is the driver-side trunk strut supposed to be powered? My passenger-side strut broke (snapped off where it attaches to the trunk lid) and when I hit the key fob button to close the trunk, I could see it move but the driver-side did nothing. I'm wondering if I'm dealing with one issue or two...

Thanks,

Thanks! Part 350 on the passenger side is what broke away from the trunk lid and now I have no auto-open/close functionality.

it is powered on one side only and the other side is a spring loaded damper. If the damper is bad then that can create a lot of stress on the powered side making it snap out of place

It is a common problem, mine was broken a few months after new! Apparantly too much tension when opening and closing, makes it fail. It was replaced under Warranty.

Since it is a pure mechanical connection (nothing electric), you can temporarly fix it by putting a plastic *** or something else, to hold the two parts together.
