C-217 Tires
Has anyone tried using S550 AMG sized tires on the basic S550 Coupe? (I.e. 255/40-20 Front, 285/35-20 27.90 Rear.) If so, any problems - rubbing, etc.?

I have the S450 Coupe (this is the facelift of S400 Coupe). Some of the info below may prove useful to you.
It came with AMG-line wheels:
Color: black, high sheen
Front axle: 8.5 J x 20 ET 38; Part nr: A22240104007; Tyres: 245/45
Rear axle: 9.5 J x 20 ET 38; Part nr: A22240105007; Tyres: 275/40
Changed to S63/S65 wheels:
Color: black, matte
Front axle: 8.5 J x 20 ET 39; Part nr: A22240106007; Tyres: 255/40
Rear axle: 9.5 J x 20 ET 39; Part nr: A22240107007; Tyres: 285/35
Reference: https://accessories.mercedes-benz.co...t-alloy-wheels
Note that in the reference you will find only the "titanium grey, high-sheen" color version of the rims I have gotten because it seems like they don't offer them in black anymore. I got mine second hand in great condition.
The issue: Before I changed the wheels and tyres when I turned the steering wheel maximum to the left or right and tried to turn slowly it felt like the car loses grip and you feel sort of a jump of the wheel off the ground - now don't imagine the whole front of the car jumping but that's how I can best describe it - I believe it is some sort of rubbing. It doesn't matter if I move forward or backwards with fully turned steering wheel left or right, the issue persisted.
It used to happen rarely and I think most often on a slope and/or slippery surface. Now after I changed the rims and tyres I feel this issue a lot more and it is quite more severe.
It could be an alignment issue because I haven't gone to check the alignment since I purchased the car in 2023 - too much other stuff being done to it, hehe.
Note a few more things:
1) This configuration was not available for the North American market - before and after facelift it comes with m276.824 engine, there are also differences in brakes, suspension and a few other. Also the part numbers are not the same between S500/S550 coupe - i.e. the suspension setup may be somewhat different compared to the S500/S550 car because a) the car is facelift and b) smaller engine car overall. I've cross checked the part numbers of the struts with the other engine models before and after facelift and they are all different. You can use catcar.info to check this kind of stuff for free.
2) The car was not an AMG-line car, however being facelift car it comes with the pre-facelift AMG-line front bumper (which means that it has the same wheel arches as the pre-face AMG-line cars - like your S550).
3) Also, from what I have seen across brochures the facelift cars height seems to be a bit different (for coupes only (not cabriolets): 1422mm for pre-facelift and 1411mm for facelift).
4) What you could do, and I haven't tried it but I believe it will work is basically install the 245/275 (r/f) tyres on the S63/S65 wheels you want to get. I bought my rims with the tyres and haven't tried my old tyres on my new rims.
5) You don't need new rim bolts.

Actually the "skipping" is not related to the size of tires and suspension: https://mbworld.org/forums/s63-amg-4...arp-turns.html
Did you get your tires? There is no difference in cars, so if you change to the wider tires, it makes no difference in anything and will not rub. The 245 40 20 / 275 35 20 is exactly the same fitment as the 255 40 20 / 285 35 20 as your wheel dimensions haven’t changed, only the tire, even your speedometer will be the same.
