83 300SD HIGH PITCH HOWL FROM REAR END

OK SO AFTER OWNING 2 240D'S I'VE FINALLY SAVED UP ENOUGH TO STEP UP TO A 300SD AND BOY LET ME TELL THERES A HELLUVA DIFFERENCE!!!
PROBLEM IS THE CAR HAS SOME MINOR ISSUES AND I'M REALLY ENTHUSIASTIC ABOUT THE CAR AND WANT TO GET IT BACK IN GOOD SHAPE FOR A FEW SUMMER ROAD TRIPS. THERES A HIGH PITCH HOWLING COMMING FROM THE REAR END. CANT HEAR IT INSIDE THE CAR WITH THE WINDOWS UP BUT YOU CAN HEAR IT WITH THE BACK WINDOWS DOWN. SOUND DOESNT CHANGE WITH RPM OR SPEED OR GEAR CHANGES. I CHANGED THE OIL IN THE DIFFERENTIAL AND NOTICED THE SOUND GOT A LITTLE QUIETER BUT DIDNT GO AWAY. ANYONE EVER EXPERIENCED THIS PROBLEM BEFORE? ALSO DOES ANYONE KNOW WHAT RATIO THAT DIFFERENTIAL IS I'VE SEEN SOME POST ON DIFFERENT FORUMS THAT SAID 3.07 BUT IS THAT THE FACTORY RATIO? ANY ONE KNOW WHICH 300 SD CARRIES THE 2.88 ?

ALSO THE RPM GAUGE IS SOMETIMEY. BUT ALTERNATOR SEEMS TO BE HOLDING UP WELL I TEST DROVE THE CAR WEDNESDAY AND WE HAD TO JUMP IT TO START IT. BOUGHT IT FRIDAY IT STARTED RIGHT UP AND HAS BEEN STARTING RIGHT UP WITH NO PROBLEM. LAST W116 I HAD WAS A 450 SEL BUT THAT WAS OVER 10 YEARS AGO.

NEXT PROBLEM IS THAT I HAVE NO POWER TO THE RADIO OR THE CIGARETTE LIGHTER. FUSE IS GOOD, ALL OTHER ITEMS CONNECTED TO THAT SAME FUSE CIRCUT WORK EXCEPT THOSE TWO.

LAST PROBLEM IS THAT I NEED TO CHANGE OUT THE FAN CLUTCH AND THE AUXILLARY ELECTRIC FAN BECAUSE NEITHER ONE OF THEM WORK PROPERLY, FAN CLUTCH DOESNT ENGAGE (FAN ALWAYS TURNS SLOW, AND EVEN AT 100 CELCIUS WHEN I TURN THE ENGINE OFF I CAN STILL TURN THE FAN WITH THE SAME RESISTANCE AS WHEN ENGINE IS COLD) AUXILLARY FAN DOESNT WORK AT ALL. SO I CANT REPLACE THE A/C COMPRESSOR UNTIL I GET ANOTHER AUX. FAN.

NEED SOME IDEAS AND INFO GUYS

Hopefully its not the rear end.Try this after driving see if back rims are hot.If so its either bad brake line or caliper,I changed all lines and calipers as maint.
The tach wire from crank can work itself down from the pins on tach amp.Solution remove amp wedge something under plug after you super glue gel it.Let dry screw tach amp on.

OK, I FINALLY GOT TIME TO GET BACK TO THE CAR. DROVE IT TO THE BAY AREA, CHECKED THE RIMS, THEY WERENT HOT. DROVE IT HOME SAME THING. I HAD THE WIFE TO DRIVE THE CAR AND I RODE BESIDE HER WITH MY WINDOW DOWN, THE SOUND IT LOUDER ON THE RIGHT SIDE THAN THE LEFT SIDE. I ALSO NOTICED THAT THE RIGHT REAR TIRE TREAD IS WORN DOWN DRAMATICALLY MORE THAN THE LEFT SIDE TIRE TREAD. ALL THE TIRES MATCH AND ARE FAIRLY NEW. THE OTHER 3 HAVE OVER 80% TREAD AND THE RIGHT REAR DRIVE TIRE HAS ABOUT 55 TO 60%.
ANY MORE IDEAS?

Feel the axle near brake hub.There's a bearing in there.Also feel rear end for heat. Mine I was lucky the parking brake shoe was rubbing.However some people had to chage rear ends.
