gray market car ???

hi guys,

how do you know if your mercedes is a gray market-european model, or a usa car ?

the vin # is:
WDBCA45E3LA505579

ive heard that some euro models have a 16 digit vin number, but it didnt state if it could have 17 numbers or if the us model could have 16 also. it also made refrance that the second to last number was a date code on the us model...what year is the car ?

http://www.mbclub.ru/mb/vin/view.html try here, its a free vin look up service for mbz, this will only give info on euro cars after 1980 its a russian mbz club. there is a icon for english in the upper right corner if it loads in russian..
