Hi guys,

I was quoted this morning by an independent mercedes shop a price of $400.00 to replace both front wheel bearings on my 1990 560SEC..., does this price sound right or high ?

I was surprised myself...I thought it was high.

Well, the front wheel bearings are pretty easy to replace. If you have some way to press out the old bearings and press in the new ones, I would not pay $400 bucks to have it done. If you are going to do this, I would recommend strongly to replace the discs and pads at the same time.

On the w126 chassis, in order to replace the wheel bearings, you must remove the whole hub assembly which the discs are bolted to. Labor to replace the discs are, at that point, just a matter of unscrewing a few bolts.
