126 Front Flex disc replacement
Hi,
Does anyone know how to replace the front driveshaft flex disc? Do you have to take the driveshaft out? Lower the tranny?
Anyone that has done this please let me know.
I have a vibration that is mid car at all speeds but is most noticed at highway speed. I went under the car and noticed there is a lot of play in the front flex disc, the metal has sep. from the rubber and is able to move. I think the vibration is from the driveshaft being out of sinc.
You will need to have the car on a lift in order to rotate the driveshaft to remove the bolts attached to the tranny. There should be 6 bolts, 3 on the shaft, 3 on the flex disc. You do not need to remove the tranny for this. At least you did not have to do this on a W126. I brought mine to my local MB mechanic. I think the whole job cost 250.00 - 300.00 including parts. I have a forward flex disc and a center flex disc on my 560 SEL.
Hope this helps
Bob
