Arrow 83 300SD ignition/steering problem. Any suggestions?

I can put the key into the ignition and turn it about 1/8th of an inch clockwise, but before it will get into the no.1 position. It will not go any further, and the steering wheel is locked. I cannot break it. Im thinking it may either be a stuck tumbler due to the cold, or a bad steering column. I was not given a notice that anything may go bad; there were no warnings. Has anyone out there experienced a similar problem; or better, a resolution?

thanks.

You cant move your steering wheel even a little bit?

I experienced a similar problem, but all i had to do was move my steering wheel. I heard a click and i could then turn the key all the way over. I was told that it happens to some cars after the steering wheel has been turned when the vehicle is parked.

Hope this helps-

Ignition Issue!

I can move the steering wheel a little (maybe 25degrees), and I feel somewhat of a click. I can play with theh wheel and key ignition for a while however I can not put the key into the number one position. Also, a friend of mine advised me to put the car into Neutral and move it a couple inches while trying to start it. I did; still nothing. I think I am going to go play with it some more today when the weather gets nicer and I will let you know. Im also thinking the worst case scenario: Replace the column and ignition.

Thanks.
