Hi I'm a new member and have aquired a 1985 500SE Uk Spec car. The car ran extremely roughly so I changed
Plugs
Leads
Cap
Rotor Arm
I have cleaned the contacts with contact cleaner also checked to see if the coil is ok by means of a spark test both at the plug and at the cap.
Problem is the car is now refusing to start at all. Engine is turning , spits and sputters but no life.
Could anyone suggest what to check for. Also the air/fuel mix screw was moved in error for mistaken idle speed. Does anyone have a picture of the fuel injection settings (ie is there a default setting) Could anyone tell me how many turns to get the thing running or is there anything I can look at.

Check the fuel pump, fuel pump relay...etc. If mixture is not correct, it'd still start but rough and lot of smoke. Sounded like the fuel pump is not working right.

Update time
I believe that one of the hose clips have failed on the rubber sleeve. To remove this do I need to fully remove the inlet manifold or can I seperate the clips without ?
Second update
Clip is off (Lots of releasing spray and the Non MB Special tools) and it's definately a CIS system. Just got to seperate the sleeve from the manifold (wonder what other suprises I'm going to find) any suggestions.
Now I'm this far in might aswell rebuild the thing at least I will know it will work then.
Tomorrow I will check all the relays and fuses to see the voltage. Fuel pump has been checked as has the idle control valve (which click when powered)

I believe the fuel injection to be CIS mechanical same as the 450 series

The problem appears to be a large hole in the air ducting that sits under the fuel injection systems. I have checked with MB for it and have been quoted £80 something. Euro and GSF don't have it in stock. If anyone knows where I can get this part (I don't need the rest) I have found a company in the usa but they don't ship to uk
