'85 300SD windows falling down :(

I have a 85 300SD, 300K miles. Anyhow, the windows aren't staying up. All except the drivers window have a problem saying up. The motors are dead/ wiring messed up. Unsure at htis point. Is this the window regulator clips like on the VW's? What do I need to do to hold them up

I just got this car, it's a beauty, but the previous owner was a hippie who lived in a commune and didn't take care of the car. Please, any advice would be great!

btw, it's converted to run on WVO. I'm going to start the process of collecting and filtering WVO soon! greasecar kit. Woot woot

One of the engine mounts is loose/needs to be replaced. It came with the car. Also, the fuel return lines haven't been changed in ages. It's a matter of time before they brake and spill fluid all over a hot engine, causing a fire. I need to change the ATF, the brake fluid, etc.

You need to address some much needed maintaince before even thinking about WVO.

First on the SD's the belt for the PS pump is real close to the oil cooler line. If the engine mounts collapse the line is cut, you lose oil pressure and are looking at a rebuild. So if a mount is really bad I'd change both of them along with a set of engine shocks soon.

As for the windows you need to remove the door panals and see whats up. Probably the slide is broken, but it could be something else. If the motors are not getting power first check the fuses, but if someone has been hacking up the wires you are sol. Get a meter and start testing and fixing the mess.

Head over to Mercedesshop.com as well for further info diesels or WVO.
