Climate Out-of-Control

I hate my climate control. Nothing works as advertised. The most fun trick is having to turn the heater to max then turn the key off and back on to get it to blow hot air. Needed A/C this week for the first time this year and it's mysteriously not blowing cold. Anyone have similar issues or ideas to troubleshoot?

Does the heat go off when the correct temperature has been reached, and does it come back on when it gets cold in the cabin?
If the heater doesn't come back on, you probably have a bad monovalve. I had this issue and replaced my valve and the climate control works like a dream again. It's a 15 minute fix and less than $25 in parts.
I hope that's your issue.

As for the A/C, with the age of our cars the compressors often leak. Mine does, so I refill it every summer instead of going through the cost/trouble of replacing the compressor.
