Just want to say hello
Hi everyone,
I'm Jan from Germany. I just registered after a friend of mine told me about this forum. I've looked around a bit and tend to like it. Quite a shame, that I didn't find this earlier.
Anyway, the reason why I'm posting in this section though I drive a Jeep at the moment is, that I hope to have another W126 soon (I had a few of them before).
I'll look at a light blue '83 280 SE in supposedly excellent condition this week and I'm really excited about it. Wish me luck.
Anyway... I just wanted to introduce myself for now...

Howdy
I got a Jeep Cherokee also, a '95 4.0 and I love it
It's such a robust little truck
I registered last year but have only recently had my first post so I'm new here I guess too

Since you've owned a few W126s before, I'm sure you can contribute to a thread dedicated to a timeless classic
Gosh I love 126's and 116's

Thanks for the nice welcome guys.
Funny to see that there are more people who like a Cherokee as well as the older Mercedes. I always thought I was weird, because I like both (and various other cars...). Though I'm going to sell the Jeep sooner or later now. It's not really what I need right now, I do quite a bit of highway driving and it is certainly better to have a car than a truck for that. So the Jeep has to go...
Yeah, 1985MB380SE I guess you are right and I can indeed contribute here a bit, on my other cars I did most of the maintenance/repairs myself/with my friends. I guess we are not only enthusiastic but have become relatively skillfull by now, too.

Small update. It seems that it might wasn't the smartest idea to get back in touch with the (real life) Mercedes guys around here. I just finished a 90 min. telephone call with one of my friends, and he knows about a '72 350 SLC which is to be sold here. According to him the condition is not perfect but the price is VERY tempting. Anyway, I think I'm going to check the SLC in person tomorrow. Even if I don't decide to keep it, it could be possible to buy it, clean it up a bit and resell for a good amount more. I'll decide about it tomorrow. Watch out for another update. Just wanted to keep you uptodate on what's happening...

Yes, please keep us updated on the W126 saloons, SEC's and SLC's that you look at.
Seems a few other members have some rather puzzling mechanical or electrical problems -- any clues?
Anyway, always good to see W126 enthusiasts!
