compressor noise

hey guys

today i got my 86' 420sel recharged from empty with r12 refrigerant.
i found a guy on the internet who did it for 60 bucks. i dont know if i just got what i paid for because i as soon as i left his house the compressor got loud and would make a vibration i could feel at the steering wheel and brake pedal whe i slow doen and stop. it cools very well down to 50 degrees at the vents. any insights as to what causes this or how to stop this.
thanks

A guess would be that the compressor clutch bearings are done for. What kind of noise is it, ex. tinny rattle or a scraping noise? How long has the system been empty for?
