Owners handbook and questions 1988 500SEL
Hi All,
I have finally got my 500sel back on the road after replacing the very hard to find EZL ignition module and sorting most of the bugs!
I have a few questions that some more experienced w126 owners may be able to answer for me.
The specs as far as i understand........car is a grey import from Singapore to NewZealand and is right hand drive. The car is fitted with a 117.965 engine and the workshop manual i have on dvd states that it is a "factory uprated engine" This is due to a more complex ignition module featuring knock sensors and the higher compression of 10.0/1 which is stamped as E10.0 after the engine serial number on the block. The car is non cat and has a freeflow exhaust manifold with 4 down pipes into two.
No cruise control, no electric seats, no sunroof! It does have.. full leather interior, aircond and electric adjustable steering column!
1/ Is this upratred engine the standard european spec 195KW? Is this a rare engine specification for W126 500 cars?
2/ In my dvd workshop manual i think it is RUC country version. what does this RUC stand for?
3/ Does anyone know of a website that I can download an owners handbook that is relavent for this version of 500sel?

I have already got the vin info from there it was helpful but not really enough detail apart from the delivery options.
Hey i see you are in NZ to! Im in the South Island.
The main thing i would like the owners book for is driving the heating and a/c system.. it has red leds and switches that i cant seem to make much sense of! I have just got the A/c sytem re-gassed and removed the metal slug from the heater hoses they fit in Singapore to stop the heater working!
