Wood Veneer Backing Material?
I have seen two examples of the wood console AC/heater component. One was plywood with the burl wood veneer. The plastic trim around the radio was stapled to the main section.
The other design was an aluminum backed wood with the radio trim being part of the entire back panel and running all the way to the top.
Does anyone know the year this changed? If you were to purchase a new wood part which configuration would the new part be?
The part I saw with the aluminum backing said it was from an older car 1985. The part made from plywood was from an '89. The aluminum backed part was separating and appeared warped. Where the plywood component appeared relatively stable.
