420SEL Tranny

I have 200+K miles on my SEL, and the transmission is acting up. She runs fine, normal shifts for 15-20 minutes, even if driven hard--no slipping, and then seems to get stuck in a low gear (2nd?) after the car has warmed up. Transmission oil level is good, no burned smell. Where should I start troubleshooting? Would a transmission "tune-up" at a local shop be useful (filter change, etc.)? Is there an "up-shift" sensor of some sort that may be bad? Adjustment maybe? Thanks!

With 200k on the tranny and no backround on the previous maintenance I would say it would be worth it to have it looekd at.I would highly recommend getting the tranny "flushed" at your earliest convience and see how it operates after that....you maybe surprised.

Also, check the modulator valve on the transmission. I have a 86' 420SEL and I believe your modulator valve has a green ring on it like mine. Probably, this valve needs replacement along with fluid and filter change.
