500SEC Euro

Just purchased a 1983 500SEC, i have been searching for parts but have notice that due to the 1983 being a Grey Market Vehicle, nobody lists parts them.
Can i assume that 1984 500SEC are common to the 1983?
Can somebody help with the air intake, the tube is missing i can buy a replace for $10 but cannot see where it attaches to the front of the car.
Also i found a strange item that has been disconnectted see the attached photo.

There should be an inlet duct on the passenger side of the grille for the intake tube
On 500, 420 and 380 models there was only one intake tube but, on the 560 (and a few high output smaller engined gen-2 models) there was a twin intake airbox

I have a euro spec 500 and I've never seen anything like that other piece you have a picture of, perhaps it is some sort of smog equipment fitted after the car arrived in the US?

I know my sold 560 SEL inside out and had never noticed anything like those 2black pieces. They are not part of the intake system. The intake has a large aluminum pan sitting on top of the V valley like a carburettor equipped engine with one or two large black plastic pipes leading to the front of the car behind the egg crate grill. In NA only the 560 engines have 2 air intake pipes. The 420 engines have only one.

The pic is the emissions/charcoal canister. I wouldn't worry about it.

european model parts

I too just bought a european 500sec, though mine is an '82. Sorry, podington, I can't really help, I have no idea what those are. But I was wondering since we're talking about it, if anyone knows where to get parts for european models. I can't find any sources. Please help. Thanks.

Email Jonathan Hodgman (jhodgman@gmail.com) or visit his web site at www.blueridgemb.com. He'll hook you up with the parts you need, and is an expert in the W126 cars, both US and Euro.
