420 SEL Climate Control Issue

I recently purchased a 1988 420 SEL. The Climate Control wasnt working when I bought it. Its acting rather odd. Sometimes it doesnt work at all, but most of the time it works as long as the key is on but without the car started. Even then it only works set to MAX, with fan on high. The minute I start the car, the blower fan cuts off and never cuts back on. I thought it was a bad climate control so i bought one from a junkyard that was confirmed to be working. Same exact issue nothing changed. Is there a sensor or something somewhere, what am I missing?

There is a 30Amp blower fuse. It is not in the fuse box, but a linked fuse. My 89 420SEL was doing a similiar thing. It did turn out to be the control unit. The mechanic did check the blower fuse since it had intermitent blower but would cut out as soon as you wanted to use it. Beckman Industries in N. Carolina does a nice rebuild job on these and other electric units. I used them for my BMW vs. the dealers stealing.

It changes all the time
Also with the car running turn the key back about 1mm. See if the fan comes on.
