I think that there were 3 stages available.
1) Body kit
2) Body and suspension
3) 6.0 motor body kit and suspension.
I havn't seen one in a while but I recall also the seat piping was color coded to the exterior paint on a fully modded version.
Of course when AMG was a private non MB company, you could custom the car to your likings.

Quite a few:)
Back when AMG was still AMG they didn't so much offer kits/stages, but a rather lengthy list of possibilities from which you could check off those which suited you.
It could be a simple body kit and wheels, or a full on 32V conversion replete w/ active suspension, full wood kit, Recaro's etc, etc.. Really the only limiting factor was one's check book.
With that in mind, it's difficult to tell if one is 'real' or not.. Aside from the full on conversions where the option list is staggering one can't say for certain w/o paper work attesting to the modifications/where/who made them etc..
Best of luck!

Didn't all the origional AMG builds have some sort of AMG signiture plate attached to the car, beyond a certain point?
I'm not sure on this, but had read it a couple of times.
