W126 Suspension Drop - Springs + H&R Spacers

I've been trying to source a set of H&R's but they are back ordered everywhere and nobody seems to inventory these springs. Ive also looked into getting a set custom manufactured, but I have been quoted in the $600-700 range. Can anyone steer me in the right direction as to where to find a set of sport springs? No Self Leveling. I am not picky about brand or anything, its just if i wanted to drive something with 6in of wheel gap I would have bought a small pickup truck or a jeep.

Also, I purchased 4 15mm H&R spacers and they do not fit on the front hub centric of my 1988 420SEL. Does anyone know if the thinner versions (5mm) will fit properly? Can I put the 15mm spacer on a lathe and remove the lip from the inside of the hub centric that does not clear?

Thanks for any advice, my current tires are terrible and I need to get these wheels from a 1999 SL on properly with the drop so I can get the 4 wheel alignment done once, and not kill my fresh set of rubbers.

Have you tried TireRack?
Seems like they have both regular and SLS suspension H&R springs in stock.....

I don't know enough about the H&R springs to know... are there different sizes? How do I know which ones to get to lower my car instead of keeping it at the original height?
Also, if I want to get rid of my SLS, what do I need to get?
If I keep SLS, and I get a new spring set to lower my car, then what? How do I drop it, keep the car off my tires, and not screw anything up?
eloc206: what did you lower your car with? and, are those BBS wheels? I think those are the ones I'm looking into getting for my 500sel. Nice looking on the w126. If they are the BBS RGR, your wheel and tire size, and suspension stance is ideally what I'm aiming for. What exactly is your set up? Wheel/tire size, suspension? It looks awesome. Perfect.
Did you keep your sls intanct?

lowered on H&R's with Bilstein HD shocks... wheels are 19x8.5 inch Maya STM 38+ front, 36+ rear with 20mm spacer, on 235/35/19 Dunlop Tires... oh and i didn't have SLS so it was pretty much straight forward after that... I believe you can just remove the SLS unit all together and replace with lowering springs and shocks if you wanted to go that route but if you wanted to keep it i have no clue... thanks i provided a link in a previous reply: http://achtuning.com maybe they can shed some light on what springs they ordered...
