Help adjusting timing

My car failed inspection because of high CO% reading. CO% was 1.34 (should be less than 0.79 in NJ). I would like to play with the timing to see if I can lower the CO%. Can anyone post instruction on how to adjust the timing or PM me.

Thanks,

I owned a couple of M103 (300) engines for several years in Ca, and I never had a problem with smog. Timing is probably not the issue unless someone improperly adjusted it. Have you checked other maint. items on the car (spark plugs, air/fuel filters) etc? It also may be the cap/wires or injectors. If I remember correctly high CO means incomplete combustion, so I would check those other items first.

It changes all the time
I'm assuming your talking about the 89 300SE. You can't adjust the timing. All that car has is a rotor and cap stuck on the front of the bump stick. Timing is controlled by the EZL. I suggest adjusting the 3mm adjustment screw on the fuel distrubuter housing. Left is lean.
