My 300TE 180K miles is using a fair amount of oil these days, and the plugs are fouling - requiring me to remove and clean the plugs every couple thousand miles or so...
I know it is next to impossible to say, but short of a total rebuild, do any of you think that re-doing the valve seals might help or at least get me by for a while???
Thanks to all in advance!

Quite a few:)
Just an aside, but your TE is a W124.
You likely are fighting a few problems, one your heads/valve guides are tired.. Two, your valve guide seals are Really done...
You can band aid the problem and install some new seals, likely buy yourself 10-30K or fix if properly and have the head machined/new guides installed.
If you aren't already run 20/50 weight oil. I would also recommend running a hotter plug..NGK BP5ES works well.. Be SURE you aren't running a resistor or platinum plug.... The R plug will cut down on the energy you see @ the electrode and platinum plugs w/ their tiny electrode are every More prone to fouling.
I've been using the BP5's in my M103 w/ a tired head w/ good results. Also, bring the cap down to 26-28...

Thanks so much... Sorry about posting in the wrong area!
Now, all I have to do is find a good & honest mechanic. I took it to a specialty garage that does SOME Benz, but mostly older amaerican cars... They said it'd cost me $8,000 !!! Total rebuild.
