Bought a 1987 420 SEL...
I've watched eBay and Craig's List for a long time, wanting to find an SEC or, spending a little less, and finding a clean SEL. I've always loved the body style; classic Mercedes to me.
I recently found a one owner, 1987 420SEL with 61k miles on it. Desert Sand, with what might be Palamino interior, in excellent condition. A few things need to be done, such as the clock doesn't work and all four wheels need to be replaced due to discoloration, but it seems to be in really good condition overall. Bought it for $4,700, which seems resonable when compared to other SEL's I looked at with two to three times the mileage and no where near as nice condition. Best part? Listening to the 'thunk' when you close the doors... the W126 series feels like one solid vehicle.
