1990 300SE Suspension Compnents
Hello everyone.
I just bought a '90 300SE with around 120K miles on it. Hard to say exactly, as the odometer quit working recently.
I'm getting some popping and clunking going around corners and bumps. I assume that some suspension components are worn, such as bushings, etc.
Does anyone have experience with this? What components are suspect, and how hard is it to replace them?
Thanks,
J.

The front-end clunking on my 300 SE required the replacement of the "braking support link and ball-joint", which comes as a repair kit because it is a common failure. It was noticeable at low speeds over rough surfaces, and being on the passenger side of the car, had no doubt been caused by previous owners hitting pedestrian pavements/sidewalks too often. MB part # MA126 330 13 35, which cost me about USD100 three years ago. Replacement was no problem, especially as my mechanic did it.

Thanks, Roger.
I had a bit of a scary experience today. Was driving along and hit a bump, all of a sudden the steering wheel started shaking wildly. It felt as if a wheel were coming off. Applied a little brake, and the problem solved itself. Took it to my mechanic right off and he says I need new tie rod ends, among other things.
Looks like the front end is coming apart soon!
I'll let you know what all I find.
Cheers.
