84 500SEC

I recently picked up an 84 500SEC. There are a couple of problems I hope someone can help with.

1 car overheats, after warming up the temp reads about 60-80 dec C. Then jumps near 100 and rises. The thermostat was changed (so they said). This happens faster when the a/c is running. What is the normal running temp? Any ideas why it's overheating?

2. No heat when the interior temp control is turned up. Still blows cool/cold.

The car was running smooth when I got it. I filled it up with Chevron 93 w/techtron. Now it's idleing rough. Any suggestions?

I also want to pick HID lights. Anyone know if I can get them and where?

Normal running temp is 82-85 C, you should probably flush the cooling system, remember to use MB original fluid or Zerex G05 only. Does the car only overheat at idle, or also while driving?

As far as the rough idle, it probably needs service.

Thanks for the tip. I checked the overflow today and it deff needed some fluid. I added about 2 gallons but not the ones you suggested. Can you tell me why only those two? The car is running good now although I have my eye on it. I will have to have it flushed and put the right one in.

THanks for the help!

Very welcome, but you should do it as soon as possible. MB original coolant, and recently Zerex G05 are the only coolants that have the correct Ph, buffers, and mineral content. Your cooling system will be damaged by the wrong coolant.
