1987 420SEL W126 starter screeches dosent turn engine sometimes
I have a 1987 420 sel, great car but it has a cuple problems i cant figure out. the first is that every once in a while i will go to start the car or shut it off then retun 15 mins later and turn the key i hear the fule pump start all the lights come on the starter turns then this horrible screeching noise and the motor dosent turn but the strange thing is the RPM shoots over to max i think its about 8 - 9 thousand RPM's. i shut the jey off take it out put back in dose the same thing, wait about 15 mins come back and it starts fine. that or i take a screw driver sence i cant put a socket and breaker bar on the crankshaft pully wheel i jam the screw driver in the bolts of the fan cluch and turn the engine a little bit so the ring gear isent on the same spot on the starter. get in and it start fine.
second problem is the cruise control works once every cuple months but it works untill i shut off the car after that it dosent work for a while. any help there would be greatly apricated.
third problem is the sunroof is sluggish and i herd that some one some where sells a rebuild kit for it and info on the would be great to.
other than that the car works great, 92,000 miles steering box is a little loose so it has play in the steering wheel but i just havent gotten around to tighting the little allen wrench hole on the steering box to tighten that up.

Sounds like a bad ground. Check the starter wires and internals.
CC modules on these cars are notorious for going bad. Replacements are expensive, but unless you want to resodder the entire circuit board, that's what you've got.
Sounds like the sunroof cable needs to be greased. The are internet how to's on that subject.
