300 sdl

what might cause a diesel 300 sdl not too run? it does crank but will not start & run. I understand that there will be a long list.

1987 300 SDL
Sound silly but put her nose down (like on an incline). If it runs when fogged is the diesel injection pump. Try foging some WD-40 through the air filter canister while somebody cranks her, it should start in a few seconds. No need to get a new pump, just replace all the o-rings. It is a half a day affair and about $400 at your MB shop. If you visually inspect the pump on the lower front part of the block (driver side) you should see some fuel sipping through. The area would be wet with diesel fuel. Let me know if I can be of any more help. G.L.
