300SD Questions
Hey there, just bought a 84 300sd runs good but the glow plug light comes on and stays on while driving, also it just got cold down here in Texas and it is having trouble starting when cold. Wondering what this means and what steps are needed to fix the problem?
Two are these cars prone to having the tansmission front seal leaking on them, it will leave good size puddle under the car but only if it is running. I crawled up under the car with a flash light and it looks to be coming from in between the engine and transmission am i correct in thinking that is most likely the front seal?
Third I had the car up on jack stands for couple of days, replaced the motor mounts and oil cooler lines, but i noticed the rear end left a puddle of fluid, but the odd part is that it came from the outer edge of the inner CV boots. Now that i have the car back on the gound it does not leak any more. Anyone ever hear of this happening?
Thank you
Thomas

I am new to my 300sd and I have been given the word on cold weather starts. We have been enjoying cold Arctic inflow and temps below 0C, and my car would not start on a single glow plug cycle or even two in succession. My old hand mentor instructed me to turn on glow plugs and count to thirty after the glow plug light went off as the glow plugs continue to heat after the light goes off unless the engine starts when of course the go off. The car starts every time with this procedure.
