500 SEC is at the end of its life, need options
Hi there fellas,
Im usually in the W204 Forum, but my dad has a 1984 500 SEC that he is finally willing to give up. He doesnt drive it and it is just parked in front of his house and constantly needs jump starting because of this. The car is old, and many things dont work, such as the radio, antennae, rear defroster.
The question now is what to do with it because it still runs...the car didnt qualify for cash for clunkers becuse that program only dealt with cars 1985 and later.
1) We recently got a letter from the Air Quality Resource Board in California saying that they will be willing to scrap the car for $1000, which seems like the best way to go at this point.
2) my dad thinks he can get more than that because the tires are practically new, and he also put on some OEM mercedes rims (i think they were E320 class rims prior). Im having a hard time finding some kind of used car buyer and I dont think anybody wants to deal with the problems I listed.
any type of junk yard you guys know about that will pay more than $1000? some kind of salvage parts company?
Any thoughts or advice? Thanks
we live in northern california if that helps.
