Question 1985 SEL 500 Brainteaser.

Okay I've got a weird one for you. The water pump on my 85 SEL 500 went out. This caused the car to overheat twice on me. The first time I replaced the hoses and mechanism that does the whole defrost the windshield thing up at the firewall as that is where the coolant was leaking from. After that we quickly realized the water pump was toast too. Now here's where it gets weird after all of that I'm now getting a really rough idle. I'm at a loss figuring out what from the overheating episodes would be impacting the idle. Any thoughts?

Thanks guys!!

Maybe the (now blown) head gaskets are allowing water into the combustion chambers? Just a (very sad) thought.

Question Interesting

I don't think that would have killed the head gasket-However now that you mention it ....coolant being sprayed all over the engine might have fouled the plugs...EXCELLENT suggestion! Thank you!

Anyone else feel free...!
