Question 1990 300SE M103 engine dies while driving

Hello everybody,

As you can see in the title, problem is quite big, it can concerns security.

Engine dies while driving, yesterday I did 300km and it happened 3 times, fortunatelly not while I was taking over other cars..

Speed was 1st time 40kmh, 2nd 100kmh, 3rd 130kmh

Every time whne it happened I put N, then stopped, started engine without any problems and continuing the trip..

Any suggestions? Thanks in advance..

My Dad has a w124 300se and he had that issue. His fix was the fuel pump relay...(simple replacement at $70 Australian dollars)

I have W126, but thanks a lot, relay should't be that expensive for W126, so I'll try that.

That's what happened to my W124 260E. The fuel pump relay is the most overlook parts since there is no fault codes or error to detect it. My indie pulled it out to show me the internal part of the circuitry, you be amazed the amount of hairline splits if you view them outdoor during a sunny day. Hope you got yours sorted. Cheers!

You were right! 99eur (at MB local dealer) and new relay solved the problem. Thanks a lot guys! Now I'm going to find some info about ASR (control light is often on ;-) and, at the moment, everything will be ok ;-)

All best!

Excellent, happy to hear that. And my mistake at first post: Dad has a w126 300se (ex consulate car from Japan/custom stuff added etc) not a w124. Cheers,

My best friend has also W126 300SE from Swiss embassy ;-)

PS.Those relays ;-) ASR problem was the same stuff - relay. Maybe I should collect some for the future (next 5-20 years). Anyone did that? Any suggestion which ones? 2 tips I already have ;-)
