Squeeks

Hi guys,
just picked up an immaculate '91 SEL, 100k, but just about perfect in every way, except it does squeek a bit (sounds like the door panels are rubbing or something in the doors or behind dash?). Anyone have this problem and know how to fix it. I haven't taken it to my mechanic yet - just thought I would get some advice if anyone has some. My '90 SEC has no squeeks and it has 209k on it, so it seems I should be able to correct this. Thanks in advance.

MB’s of all kinds.
Have a 1987 420SEL. 0 squeeks or unusual sounds. A 126 body is not a C Class and should be 100% solid as a rock. Sounds like the door panel was maybe taken off and not put back on correctly maybe? Something is loose for sure.

This is a pretty common thing on MB cars and trucks. My g55 has the same issue along with my 420SEL. There is a special MB cream/grease, it looks white, that you put a thin layer on certain contact points along the door jambs and the squeaks go away. Pretty magical stuff.

The best or nothing
Few months ago I tried buying a white wax/grease in a hobby market for about 1EUR and applied it to bottom part of the door panel that gets in touch with car chassis when you close the door. Eureka, it works, no squeaks since then!

I am not sure if is the same noise you speak of, but when I had my '85 380SE, I had horrible creaking/squeaking (or a scrunching) sounds from the door panels. I did some research and discovered it was fairly common and the easy fix was to get some Velcro tape and place on the underside of the doors where they meet the panels on the bottom on the car that holds down the carpet. I cannot for the life of me remember what that thing is called. Senior moment. Anyway, whatever it was, it worked! I put that on all of the doors and no more creaking/scrunching sounds from the door panels!!

When I got our '88 300SEL I started getting the same noise on the passenger front door, so I did the trick again and noise gone! I am surprised though that a '91 with such low miles has the sound already, but I guess age/miles may have nothing to do with it.

I can post a photo tomorrow of what I done on our 300SEL to make more sense if you think this may be your issue.

Sounds great. Good luck!

I have never heard of that grease, I should have tried that.

The Velcro cannot be seen if you have to end up going that route and no one ever knows it is there.

Hi Guys,

i am new here and wanted to share my experience.

I had this exact same sqeeking noise. The plastic seal of the entrance panel facing the door panel gets hard over the years and the little movement of the door panel makes this starnge noise.

You don't need a special wax/grease and especially not Valcro .
Just apply a very thin layer of Vaseline on the seal of the entrance panel and you are set. When I applied it a few years ago and drove a few days later I noticed that something was different. And after a while I realized that this squeeking noise was gone.

Greetings
