Pricing suggestions for '89 W126...
I've got a clean 1989 420 SEL. 3rd owner... I've had it for 10 years and have taken care of it. It's clean inside and out... especially out... great paint... not a single door ding... 150,000 miles (timing chain done at 120K)...
I'm looking for info on pricing it. Seriously... this is not a spammy attempt at cross posting (although I wouldn't mind the publicity.. hehe)...
Is $4,600 a reasonable price to ask?
With the economy being so soft, I realize that there isn't a strong demand for an older benz... even a very clean one.
People can't get loans on them when they're this old... so you're limited to cash buyers... many who don't normally own benz's are scared at the thought of buying one ("it's a rich man's car... it costs lots to keep up, etc")...
so it seems to me, that the market is limited to benz enthusiasts, and ones who like and appreciate the older W126 design and features.
I'm happy to hear thoughts on "fair" pricing for a car like this. Although it's "worth" about $8K to me, from what I've seen, I'm not likely to get that much, so I haven't even tried... Is $4,600 reasonable? I'm looking to price it to sell within a few weeks to a month... I'm not trying to be greedy or unrealistic.
Opinions welcomed (and encouraged!)
Thanks!

You can find the FS posting (with exterior pics) here:

I'll get lots more shots and get them posted no later than tomorrow (Monday).
P.S. -- Great to have someone interested in it... but for everyone else, please chime in on value. I'm really looking to harness the collective wisdom of this group to determine what price range is reasonable.

I just sold a 89 560SEL for $3000, took me a month to sell it. Was initially asking $4000 no one was interested. No one wants big V8 cars anymore. Mine was perfect, Flawless there was one crack in the wood and that was the only draw back. Leather was perfect. Wheels were brand new not a single spec of brake dust in the vent holes of the wheels it had 163,000 miles on it. So to see one like yours I would expect around $3000 for it. I would change the clear turn signal lens back to the original amber color ASAP
