Paint job '86 300 SEL limousine

Hi there,

First of all, thanks for the all tips I've had already. Since I bought this car with a few guys it's been nothing but trouble.

At the moment I'm having the wheels aligned and balanced to see if the shaking at 120 kph will finally cease.

Furthermore, the car is getting a partial paint job ( having the entire car sprayed is not within our budget I'm afraid...). The stretched roof and 3 of the 6 doors will be sprayed. The rest of the car has little rust. Except for little spots on the wheel housing and above the rear bumper and a few smaller scratches, I'm hoping to do these myself. The grey dual-tone that runs across the lower lenght of the car, also gets sprayed on one side.

According to the paint-shop/garage-owner this (including the balancing) will cost me 1500 Euro's (about 1600 US dollars)

Question: Does this seem overly expensive to you? And what's the best best way to tackle the smaller rust spots and the scratches if I wish to do these myself.

T.i.a.

Marty

no seems to be a good price to me. Tell me...how the hell does that little 6 cylinder pull that limo? Are you sure its the wheels and not the damm engine ready to blow?
