Warm up regulator

Warm up regulator
Hello,
I have a 1984 w126 380se (Euro). When I start the car in the morning, it idles very low (almost like it wants to die), once the engine gets warm, everything is fine.
I have replaced the idle control unit, idle control valve working 100%. Once the motor if warm, it revs between 600 and 700 which I believe is fine.
I tried testing the cold start valve but get no power through to the electrical point on the valve. Not sure if it get's power on start up or if it's waiting for a sensor to send through power.
How can I tell if the warm up regulator is gone or just a sensor which is not working correctly, if it is a sensor, where should I be looking?
Any assistance is greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Sergio

I am a new owner of the same car, an '84 380SE. I have a similar problem, the vehicle starts easily and idles fine but sputters and hesitates when I step on the gas pedal, like it's starved for fuel. Everything is fine once the engine has warmed up for a few minutes. Does this sound like the warm-up regulator?
