Question 126 Airbag Systems.

Hello all,
Does anyone here have knowledge of the 126 single airbag(I dont think duals were ever offered?) what is involved with replacing them after deployment? Im guessing the airbag system is not a mechanical, which makes it quite a bit more complicated.

I already know the airbag needs to be replaced but what about the clockspring? What about an airbag control modual? Does it need anything to be done to it? reset? replaced?

While Im at it is there any other way to reset the factory radio without taking it to the dealer?

TIA

Dual airbags came in on 1988 models. For single bags after deployment you replace the airbag and tensioning retractors. The airbag is held on with two torx type screws from the back. You will probably find the red connector that is inserted into the gas generator melted, this is different than the red connector you unplug WHENEVER YOU WORK ON THE SYSTEM!! When you get the light to go out you are done. "clockspring"? this is not a Ford!
The factory radio is reset with a sledge hammer - it's not worth reinstalling, neither are the speakers.

Whenever removing the red connector under the passenger floor mat, make sure you remove the battery negative terminal first and let it wait a few seconds.

Wink Dual airbags

I have dual airbags in my 1989 420 SEL. No passenger side glove box in dash. I also have ABS brakes.

If not a clockspring then what is the device that works in the same way?
