1985 Mercedes 500sel
1985 500sel running rough
I got me a 85 500sel a year ago after being very happy with my 560sel I've sold after 260K plus miles on it.
A few months ago it suddenly started running rough. It even died twice at the light but started right back up so with not knowing what's going on,I got it to the highway and drove home.Did some checking of things and the engine seems to run on 5 or 6 cylinders only.Ignition parts are new except of wires but checked them and all spark.Checked on timing chain and it is tight and looks great, marks on time.So focused on fuel after checking for vacuum leaks and didn't found any(yet).Fuel distributor got new seals.Today I put in new Bosch injectors as they seem never been replaced.
Got the car running a little better but still not running on all cylinders.I checked on the fuel dist. if all get gas.Found out driver side all 4 injectors lower rpm when open a line.On pass. side the last 3 don't respond when I do the same.Only front cyl. respond with lowering rpm when opening line.
So now start to think it may be vacuum related as those 3 nonresponding cyl. are all inline on the same side.
Would like to hear if someone can get me in the right direction on getting the engine running right again. What do i need to look for?
