1987 Mercedes-Benz 560SEC
New to the 126 game and had a few questions...

good afternoon to all. I recently purchased a 1987 560SEC. I have always loved this car since I was a kid and always wanted to have one one day. After bugging a lady that got her car serviced next door for years, she finally caved in and I bought this thing just after the new year. the body is in amazing shape and the engine runs perfectly. She sold it because she is older now and she just doesn't have the time or space for it anymore.

Because it does not need any body or mechanical work, I am concentrating on maintenance stuff and just some cosmetic upgrades to make the car look a bit more modern. I purchased a set of staggered monoblocks that look like they came off of a early 2000's C43. The fronts are 225-45/18 and the rears are 245-45/18. I am refurbishing them and would like to know if anyone is running 18's similar in size and what, if any, adjustments they had to make. any info is greatly appreciated.

I'm running 17s, which is the result of MANY folks saying NOT to go any greater than. I remind that it's important to COMPENSATE for the increased wheel diameter by reducing the tire aspect ratio to achieve the original OVERALL tire & wheel diameter ... Suspension travel may be inadequate otherwise ... when doing all THAT, the stiffer resultant tire/wheel assembly will wear bearings & suspension components more quickly, along with accompanying sacrifice of 'Ride comfort' & road-holding capability on wet/frozen roads ...

what you said about wearing the bushings, etc. I didn't even think about. I am painting them this weekend and I will install them on Monday hopefully. I'm seeing these pictures online with similar cars with similar wheels nicely tucked into the wheel wells. That's kind of the look that im going for. Sounds like I might have to get coilovers
