about euro headlamps

I'm not really sure how it works but I want to purchase a set of euro spec headlamps for my W126 but I don't know how it works. I was reading other forums and they were talking about all these wiring details. I thought all I had to do was just put in the new lamps and that was it, I didn't think there was going to be so much technical wiring that needs to be done. They were talking about the wiring a vaccum to adjust the height and all of that. The seller also says that it changes the stock 9004 bulbs to H4 lamps. I don't get how all that works. Is the wiring easy??? I really want to do it myself but I'm too afraid to mess things up. Please help if anyone has any experience with the matter, thanks.

Dude, it is soooooo freaking simple it isn't even funny. I did not have the vacuum adj on mine, nor the headlight wipers. The 9004 and the H4 bulb are the same bulb. Take a look at this link that I authored on another site. It has been helpful to many. The only thing you'll need to buy are 6 pin connectors. They are in the pics.

OMG, vwbuge thank you so much... the euro lamp for dummies really helped a lot but then I'm still a little lost. That's okay because I'm sure when it comes down to it I'll be able to install it. But one more question, are the center lights still the fog lights?? I mean the lights that are right next to the low beams, directly connected to the headlamps. Thanks for that link, it really helped so much you have no idea.

If you are talking about the space where the fogs were? On the new lamps there is a socket that fits an H1 bulb. They are kind of hard to find in yellow. Everything is just as it is in the link. Just a matter of switching a few wires into different sockets. I believe somewhere in that post or somewhere else in that website there are the new/old positions for all the pins.

Hey great info on the headlamps! I have euro's w/o the adjust on my 126 but my dad has an older 123 with the adjust and it apparently is only to change the light spread by adjusting the headlamp's aim lower if you have the car loaded down, thus raising the front end slightly, so you don't blind oncoming traffic. Can you help with center console switches for the windows? My drivers side window switch is broken and I am not sure how to get the wood decorative off around the shift gate.
