126 Door Lock Problems

Just got an 84 500 SEL w/ 103K

When the drivers door is locked (or unlocked) the other three doors do not follow suit. On a rare occasion the passenger doors will unlock when I unlock the drivers door with the key. Is there an easy fix for this?

I had that problem on my '85 380SE when it had 105,000 miles on it. I took it to my regular mechanic, and it was a vacuum door servo that needed to be replaced. It was a simple repair, and I don't remember it being very expensive.

Congratulations on your new car! I had mine 17 years and loved every minute of it! It's still one of the most beautiful cars on the road!

I was told by the previous owner that it's necessary to hold the key in the lock when locking or unlocking in place at a 45 degree angle for about 10 seconds. By doing this, the other locks will move. Another thing you might do to facilitate motion of the locks is to get some lubricant such as lithium grease in a spray can and apply some to the door lock knobs. And you might want to check your fuse box under the hood to make sure all fuses are not blown.

Thanks!

Spraying some silicone in the door locks helped improve the success rate, but it is still not 100%. I will try the door vaccum element(s) next. Thanks for the tips
