Hi,
I haven't been here for a while, well now I am back....LOL! So my in laws 83 300SD the transmission went out last night while she was driving. There is no forward shift but does engage in reverse and can back up. The shift lever feels so smooth now, not sure where to start on this problem.
Could it be the B2 piston, or flush transmission fluid and replace filter?
Please let me know and thanks in advance.

Thanks for the reply, so your thoughts that this transmission is done and to swap it out and no solution to fix it?
So I did a quick check on the car and when I put the car in park or neutral it will start fine and when I put the car in drive or other gears there is no start so my guess the neutral safety switch is good. Also, I put the car in reverse and backed it out a little then I switched it to drive, it tried to move a little and very slow then it stopped so I am guessing the band B2 piston tried to engage at first then quit so my guess it might be out.
