420SEL Intermittent Acceleration Hesitation

I purchased an '89 420SEL in early February of this year with ~128K miles and have recently noticed an intermittent hesitation upon accelerating once the car is warm. I have about a 5 mile commute to work, and have no issues with accelerating or getting up to speed until about 4 miles in. After completing a full stop, the car will hesitate to accelerate for about 1-2 seconds (with a subtle shudder), and then move normally. This is dependent on throttle input, as slowly applying throttle initially, and then moving the throttle to a more reasonable position for acceleration will produce little to no hesitation at all. If I park the car to get groceries, the car will behave like this for about 5 minutes before returning to "normal."

I'm thinking it's driveshaft/transmission/differential-related, but it could also be something wrong with the fuel distributor. Any thoughts?
