The sunroof on my 1979 300 SD Turbo has stopped functioning. The motor appears to be running, but the slide mechnism no longer seems to be connected to the motor. Fortunately, it was closed tight when it stopped working. Should I even attempt to get this fixed? I am getting a lot of negativity from my mechanic and from one body shop I contacted. It is a high mileage car - 260,000 plus and has other issues (cracked servo, etc.) so don't know if it is worth a costly repair. Thanks for any thoughts on this subject.

The sunroof cost me about $1k from the stealership, if I had know that I would have pulled the headliner down and fixed it myself...
