85 380se rear console ac vent not working
Hi group. I picked up an 85 380se for $500, put in about a grand and I'm mobile! Only thing is my rear seat passengers are dying from the heat (Florida). I'm getting nothing from the rear console vent and don't know where to start. All the other vents seem to be operational. Any tips??

Out Of Control!!
Don't get me wrong, however if you dont understand your system which includes how air is distributed within your vehicle by flaps and other devices you need to see a good mechanic and spend your time mowing the grass.

Poor bedside manner aside, plutoe's right.
Those puppies have a fairly extensive hard duct system that runs flat along the floor to the rear for HVAC with control flaps and actuators to zone the climate. If you dive in there it could get messy.

Thanks,Silver. That was a much more constructive reply. All my A/C experience is with Japanese cars. Is there a diagram for the ducting available online? And how does one go about get the center console off?

YB1 sliver back.
Unfortunately the sedans aren't my forte.
I have an 84 300SD that I purchased for engine and surroundings to supply my 85 280GE, 617A motor and manual transmission.
I would, if you intend to do any work yourself, locate and purchase the shop repair manual for your specific car.
Well worth the investment and a hard reference is always handy.
Prodding and prying can easily break 40 year old plastic fasteners and mounting nubs. Especially around the HVAC systems costing tons of money for scarce parts.
