1985 500 SEL
1985 500 SEL Engine Idle
How easy is it to adjust the idle on a '85 500 SEL?... Currently my car is ideling at aprox 500 rpm and is a little rough... would like to adjust it to 750 rpm or so. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

Probably need to change the idle control unit. I checked the service records of my recently acquired '84 Euro 500SEL and it is currently on its third idle control unit!!

'84 500SEL euro, '89 560SEL, '80 450SL
No need for such a drastic and costly venture. Cust have your mechanic adjust the Co to get the idle on the 'bubble' and it will bring the idle up accordingly. He can also do this by using a vacuume gauge off the manifold pressure and adjust to spec or where ever you feel its most comfortable.
