1979 733i, 2003 Focus SVT
1988 300SEL Transmission Issue?
Hi all,

I have the opportunity to buy a 1988 300SEL for $400 (it’s in decent shape). The seller claims that more often than not it doesn’t shift past 2nd and stays below 30mph. Is this something like the vacuum modulator? Or would I be looking at rebuilding the trans? I’m mechanically competent enough to do so, but I just want to know I’d be getting into.

I think it’s a 722.319 based on research, but I’m not familiar with these cars.
