But what happened to Mercedes after '96 "D-" or "F"?

That site ain't credible enough for me. Too little sample data lack of consideration for enough aspects of a car to make their judgements. I'd rather stick to the likes of Consumer Reports which use large samples and determine the reliability of a car based on the degree of severity of the problems experienced. Consumer Reports overcomes a huge flaw in the J.D. Power and Associates surveys. This flaw is: in JD Power's, if someone complains that their M-B's light switch is very complex to operate, it is considered "one" problem with the car. Additionally, if someone complains that the transmission in their Ford crapped out that's also one complaint!! How the hell can a system consider the two to be equal? Now with consumer reports, the two aren't considered equal at all.
