Fan switch won’t shut off

I just picked up my new to me 1988 420sel and the switch on the dash for the blower won’t shut off, any suggestions how to fix this,

I think that year still used resistor to control fan speed.
Check that out because when they go bad one way is fan never shuts off other symptoms are one speed only or will not go low speed and/or high speed

Would be in air duct after fan before evap and heater cores.
