I'm setting aside my 81 240d for the time being for a variety of reasons. But, I have an 81 300sd that has been parked for about 9 years. It was running great when it was parked and about has 160000 miles. I know I need to do some things before I fire it up. Some are obvious but, can people suggest some? What's the best way to drain the fuel tank? What fluids need to be flushed or changed etc.? Thanks.

OP.... Your 126 car should have every fluid and filter in the car renewed.
New drive belts.
Look at exhaust hangers and replace those that are age cracked.
Drive shaft couplers.
Look closely at engine and transmission mounts.
Check and repair A/C that will have lost all of its R-12 or 134-A if it got updated.
Expect issues to pop up such as door lock actuators, window switches and window motors.
