That's right. Life is a learning experience. There are still a lot of things for you to learn down the road. I guess you are going to give it a shot, right? Good luck no matter which way you choose. Hopefully, it would turn out to be what you've been waiting for. Keep us posted on your project.

try dropping in a w140 engine in your car.. they do this here for most w126's with wrecked engine. a 6cylinder 3liter 24V engine from w140 will give u more power than the 8 cylinder 5liter 16V engine from W126..as well as much better fuel economy..+

u will also have to swap parts like radiator, ac condensor, auxliary electric fan from the W140 too..

A good condition W140 Engine cost around $1200 here with all the accompanying accessories..

Where did you get THOSE details from?

3.2L I-6 from W140: 228HP and 232 ft-lbs of torque
5.0L V8 from W126: 238HP and 299 ft-lbs of torque. (Euro Spec, which is what he has)

The I-6 is more powerful? Did I miss something? You are right on the fuel economy aspect though.

dont forget that the V8 from w126 is also very heavy in weight.. the w140 engine made with newer alloys and having less cylinders is less in weight compared to w128engine.. despite slight less power output the loss in weight will keep ur car performace same.. also dont forget that newer engines breath efficiently even at high rpms delivering constant power output across the band of rpms!!

and im talking abt euro w140 engine!!

Their is no such thing as a W140 engine!

The S320 got the M104 I6
The S420 got the M119 V8
The S500 got the larger M119 V8
The S600 got the V12
The S350D had the 603

The rest of the world got the S280 M104 maybe?
And the 606 diesel was used in later W140s.

All of these engines were used in many other cars in MB's line.

A 5 liter M119 puts out 302hp a Euro M117 puts out about 300hp. Why go through the expense and effort unless you want a project?

A 5.0 liter M119 puts out as much as 322 bhp SAE net. 315 hp in later formats. A specially tuned high compression Euro 560 puts out 300 bhp. In standard form, Euro 560's put out 272 DIN.

You're thinking of the 3-valve SOHC M113 used in the W220 S500.

Where did you get the woodgrain from in Germany? My Euro 500SEL (which also has the same type of woodgrain as yours) needs lots of its dash wood. Let me know.
